A Special Day @ SEA

Yesterday was the last day of the Annual week at school, the Annual Day. After all the groups had presented their respective electives we departed for lunch break only to come together for a class photograph. I came across a few old photographs from my first year at SEA and decided to send a group photo that we took in the first year of school. Someone came up with the idea to recreate it. After a long time of setting up the camera and taking class photo, the way we used to in primary school, we were pumped to recreate the "original" version. Our mouth ached by the constant smile we put up for the camera. Sitanshu sent a before-after picture on our Whatsapp group. Shrushti came up with a #5yearschallengeatSEA (foreseeing the 10 year challenge that has been going on, on Instagram). Instantly, my Instagram was flooded by the picture & hashtag. Meanwhile, the other batches took their turns for class photographs. Later we all came together on the school ground for a group photo.

We had the prize distribution ceremony next. Each batch cheered the most for their batch-mates.

In a short while, we proceeded with performances which would end with 'breaking the dance floor' and dinner. Kaushal, a friend and my classmate delivered a Marathi Monologue which nearly left us in tears. It was followed by music and singing performances. This time the student council was able to set up not only a very good exhibition but also arranging a self-made DJ for the party and necessary musical equipments (tabla, guitar, harmonium, Casio). We enjoyed, what I call SEA-ki-mehfil. The dance performances were thrilling although I need to admit I did not understand the dance "style" that the First year students performed. It ended with a rap (Apna Time Aaega -Gully Boy) by two Third year students.

The students cheered Anuj to sing a few songs. While singing Lag Ja Gale, a student took out his cell phone to lit a flashlight and started waving. This was joined by almost everybody later. The main lights were shut off. It was a magical evening, something memorable.

Later in the evening, we broke a leg until we were profusely sweating and our stomach ached. It was the last Annual Day for me with my friends at SEA and the reason why I call it a 'Special Day at SEA'.
